Cathedral Window Pin Cushion

I had to make a pin cushion for a swap that I am participating in for February. I have had this tutorial pinned for a few weeks in Pinterest but have been a bit intimidated to try it. Yes this tutorial has lots of steps, but once you start it, they directions are very clear and it's not that hard. I hope that my partner will enjoy this and I may just have to make one for myself.

If you would like to make one here is the awesome tutorial from Kim.

Well, my family and I have decided to try and eat a bit healthier and go on somewhat of a calorie cut back to try and get rid of some of this unwanted weight. Being in the right frame of mind and having the will to stick with it is generally my problem. My daughter is like me in that way, but we are both determined to stick with it. I saw this on Pinterest and I thought this is what we need. So my daughter and I made our weight loss inspiration containers last night. You just need some glass jars, glass beads, and some stickers, pretty easy. The concept is easy, once a week we will check our weight, for every pound you shed you take one out of the pounds to go container and put one clear bead in the pounds lost container. Then whenever you get to the 10lb mark you put in a grey bead.  I think both of us seeing it visually everyday will help us stay on track. We are only on day two, but proud of my daughter already for being excited about it.

Missing in Action

I have been missing from my blog, but have been having a lot of action going on with the family. Home from a great few days up in the mountains of North Carolina. I will be getting back to crafting soon!

Sewing Machine Cover

So I decided that I wanted a sewing machine cover that complimented my bright, cheery sewing room. I again went on Pinterest(my new favorite site) and looked for sewing machine tutorials. This one looked simple and easy so I went with it. Now my machine can look cute and not get dust on it while it's not in use. This is the tutorial I used.

Craft Room Update

I thought I would take a few photos of my craft/sewing room while it is pretty cleaned up. I have added a few things to the room and thought I would share some of the things I added.

The photo below I made that hanging banner really easy and inexpensive. Target has Christmas 90% off right now and last week while buying some Christmas ribbon I came across these felt hearts. Now they say they are Ornaments and had gold strings on them that I cut off. They came 3 in a pack for each color and were on clearance for .10cents. Then I took some white ribbon I already had, so total for the bunting was .30cents, can't beat that. Hard to see up there on the shelf in the right hand corner, but I took a plain 11x14 canvas I had on hand and painted it aqua. After it was dried I took a printable from the computer on regular paper and decoupaged it onto the canvas, looks great and was also next to nothing, with all supplies on hand.  Oh and that little blue bottle on the shelf on the left was a plain glass bottle, but to switch it up I put the same aqua paint inside the glass bottle and then let it sit upside to let the excess drip out and then turned right side up to let dry.

The quilting sign and owl photo to the right of the photo were both Christmas presents from my family. Then the owls on either side of the doorway are wall sticker appliques from Pier One.

That thread holder was the plain one that I had before from Joann's and I just spray painted it aqua. I love to see all my different color threads up on the wall and it really gives it a bright look.

Nothing much different here except the sewing machine cover and then I took a $5 clock and personalized it with a paper design and mine name.

Just showing the owl heating pads that I made displayed on my blue shelf. These are fun and easy and here is the tutorial for them.

Valentine Projects

So I created a few Valentine projects that I saw on Pinterest or other areas on the web and wanted to share, in case you may want to make some as well.
For this project I purchased the wooden hearts at Hobby Lobby that were 2 for $1, I purchased the Anita's craft paint in the colors you see above for .67each and the red ribbon on sale for $2. After I painted and put the names on the hearts I used my glue gun to glue the hearts on to the ribbon and now I have a cute, personalized, conversation heart Valentine decoration.

Next I made a Valentine Fabric wreath. This is really easy, it just takes some time. I used this tutorial here to make this wreath. I am thinking that I may need one of these for every holiday I decorate for.

Alright so I have created this new blog for quilting, crafting, sewing projects. Now I may have some other stuff once in a while, like some kid photos or stories, but will try and still mainly to crafting. I will put my Flickr and Pinterest links on here in case you want to follow that as well.
